No-exam life insurance
Which applicants get accelerated decisions, how the process works, and what changes if you do not qualify.
An increasing number of carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain age and coverage limits, they render a decision based on your application, medication history, traffic records and other data rather than a paramedical exam. Some companies return approvals within hours. Your quotes on this site note whether a medical exam is required, conditional or unnecessary for that specific product.
What it changes
Skipping the paramedical exam does not mean skipping the underwriting process itself. Your stated facts will be cross-checked, and a policy sold based on false information can be repudiated within the first twenty-four months. The carrier might still demand testing or lab work if its records create questions; you choose at that time whether to move ahead.
Who tends to qualify
Typically, applicants below the age of about 60 seeking amounts below the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious medical conditions and no tobacco use for a year or longer. Some carriers will waive the exam if you have recent medical testing with labs from your doctor.
If one is needed, figure on a half-hour appointment with a medical professional at your residence or workplace in the Santa Ana region at no cost. When results are positive, they typically move you to a better rate class, making the exam often work out in your favor.
